ToggleWHAT HAPPENED?
Rooney stepped down by mutual consent on New Year’s Eve after a challenging tenure that saw his side achieve only five victories in 25 games. The disappointing run led to mounting pressure in Devon, resulting in yet another managerial spell ending prematurely for the ex-Birmingham City and Derby County boss. However, the 39-year-old football icon will not be out of work for long as he's already been offered a new opportunity in the Middle East.

DID YOU KNOW?
While Rooney’s immediate focus is on his ambassadorial duties with Football Escapes, he is also rumoured to be considering lucrative offers to return to television as a football pundit. His analytical insights and charismatic presence on screen have earned him praise during his previous stints in the media, and a full-time role in punditry appears to be a natural fit.
